I go to the street for the education of my eye and for
the sustenance that the eye needs — the hungry eye.

This is my creative space away from my proverbial day job. This is a Philadelphia based photo blog/site/page what-have-you. This is that place inside my brain where I feel comfortable exploring. The photography on this site consists of an exploration of the limits of my camera, my imagination and the reality that surrounds me. The photographs here keep me sane and will also try to keep you entertained, if for just a click.

Just a little about me: I'm a twenty-seven-year-old native New Yorker who moved down here in May of 2004 with a very special someone. The move came after getting the shaft from one gig and various crappy temp jobs. I got lucky down here and got a nice sales gig at Philadelphia Weekly and started up on June 1, 2004, but sales is not for me and I gave it up at the end of April 2005. I took a month off to recharge my batteries and breathe again. I "temp'd" at a general contracor handling some major paperwork for a major job here in Philadelphia for 1.5 years before landing at a company I truly enjoy working for. I spent a year in the marketing department of PhillyCarShare learning what goes on behind the scenes of a local, non-profit startup which is changing the world one driver at a time. I am currently working on, well, me and what/who I want to be. I am freelancing [as a photographer] and yes, I'm available for hire [portfolio]. Taking photographs for a living has been a dream of mine for years and now, that dream is just beginning to coming true.

I've been fascinated with photography for as long as I can remember. I was always snapping pictures: on family vacations, at school, at parties, with my friends. My first real camera was my Dad's Canon AE-1 with a 50mm prime lens. With that camera, I discovered black and white photography. In college, I learned to develop my own film and make my own prints in the darkroom — probably the most rewarding class I've ever taken. But film photography is expensive. Fast forward a few years and my first foray into digital photography in 2002 with a 1.3MP camera; true point & click if there was one. For Christmas of 2003, I purchased a 5MP camera with a nice large Zeiss lens. Then for Christmas of 2004, I bought myself a 6MP dSLR. September 2007 40k+ shutter actuations later and the D70 is acting up so time for an upgrade to the 10MP D200 and here I am now. I've always wanted to have my own artistic space and now, the internet has allowed me to slowly carve out my own place. This site was launched on December 10, 2004 and who knows how long it will last. It will exist as long as I have the time and the creative energy to do so.

I welcome your comments on my photographs [constructive comments preferred] and if you've found yourself here as a result of one of my comments on your site, please reciprocate, it'll make me feel good and who doesn't want to make someone else feel good, if for just a click.

If you'd like to use any of the images on this site for non-commercial purposes, please feel free to do so, but please make sure to credit me. This site is under a Creative Commons License.
