Grid Magazine asked me to shoot portraits of two people for their February 2011 issue, the first subject being Maurice Sampson, President of Niche Recycling. Above is Maurice standing outside of The Radian at 40th St & Walnut St, a new 14th floor, mixed use property with an new waste management system put into place by Sampson's firm.

Here's Sampson in the main trash room. All of the tenants of the building – the residents and commercial entities – have their trash go through here. There are bins for everything in there and out back, things get compacted to save landfill space and money. It's a very cool operation going on.

And here's Maa Kheru Men Metu, staff member at The Nile Gift Shop and Café [Yelp] in Germantown. The Nile serves up vegan soul food 7 days a week.

The gift shop portion of The Nile has all kinds of traditional African garb, drums, music along with books, lotions and other items. There's even a reverse osmosis water filtration system in there!
