Memorial Day 2008
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008
[I've been up and down the east coast these past few weeks so this is a little belated] According to AntiWar.com, the count for American deaths since the war began (3.19.03) is 4,083 as of Memorial Day 2008 – May 26, 2008 – the day the photo above was taken here in Philadelphia's Independence Mall. The people behind Arlington North set up 4k+ tombstones on Independence Mall over Memorial Day Weekend to honor the American soldiers who died during this war.

The count is at 4,087 as of today. Each year I've been at this exhibit I hope that it will not return the next year. But each year I know that it will as long as this nation continues along its current trajectory. On the night that Barack Obama clinched the Democratic nomination, I hope that next year's exhibit will be the last one during this war.
