ForkYou Live at Foster's

What you missed on Saturday was a live taping of ForkYou at Foster's Urban Homeware. Lady and I headed over eager to see what they'd cook up and dish out both in terms of food and comedy. There were tons of familiar faces in the audience including Roz, David, Eric, Colin, Alex among others. The cooking studio was packed with people spilling over to the Apartment 399 setup across the room.

There's a shot at some of the goodies Scott and Marisa cooked up. On the ingredient list for the 3 salads: bananas, scallions, mandarin oranges, apples, pears, pineapples, peanuts, coconut milk, limes, apple cider vinegar, barley, avocados, butter lettuce, orange juice…

There's Scott mixing up salad #1. A salad with lettuce, barley as main ingredients. Notice Marisa keeping a watchful eye on Scott. He's not to be trusted alone in the kitchen. He managed to turn on the Star Trek-like stove top by accident. Nothing burned down.

It was a big occasion and there were 2 cameras shooting the fun. The regular cameragirl and Reed Gustow. I'm not 100% sure if both shots are for the final product.

Marisa ripping up some of the butter lettuce for salad #2. She handed off the lettuce ripping duties to Scott soon enough so she could get started on the dressing and other non-Scott food preparation duties.

Marisa showing a trick to de-coring an avocado. The trick appeared in one of the ForkYou episodes, I can't remember which one. What you do is, cut the avocado in half along the pit and then cutting into the pit with your knife. While the knife is in the pit, turn the avocado and the pit will come loose with the knife. Neat trick.

Turning the height tables on Marisa for a sec, Scott takes a knee and experiences the world from the relative perspective of Marisa. Scott's always good for a laugh (or ten).

After all three salads were finished, the shoot was wrapped and everyone gave everyone a round of applause after the hour or so of chopping, mixing and dressing.

The line of people waiting to take a taste of each of the salads.

And here's Marisa putting together a helping of salad for me.

All the salads were tasty, but my favorite was the one with the pears, apples and pineapples with a topping of peanuts and a dressing of coconut milk, shredded coconut and lime juice. It was so good that we went to the store to grab the ingredients to recreate it and had it as a dessert salad last night with out dinner. I can't wait to see the edited video. And when it's up, watch it. I'm sure they'll be posting the video and recipes soon.

  1. Marisa Says:

Albert, thanks so much for this fantastic post (and the wonderful pictures)! I'm so glad you guys were able to come out on Saturday and that you had a good time. I'm also happy to hear that you liked the fruit salad. That one is a favorite of mine, but I've found that people either love it or hate it.

I looks like we're going to make this a regular thing with Foster's, so keep your eyes out for the next date!

Thanks for the link, and - for knowing who I was. We should have shook hands!

Excellent coverage of the event and great photos. The "gentlemen" with the camera is Reed Gustow (unless you already knew that).
