First Friday: One Night Stand

woman number 2 by frank dipietro
Lady and I tagged along with our friend Andi to head up to Haverford for First Friday at the Main Line Art Center. They were having a special show called One Night Stand. Visual artists between the ages of 21 - 35 could bring 1 - 3 pieces of art and hang it up. Above is an oil on canvas by Frank DiPietro called "Woman Number 2" - Lady and I loved it. At $300, it was 10x out of our price range. Another one of my favorites was this one by Todd Marrone. All 3 of his wonderful prints sold. He had a fun pricing scheme which halved each hour.

So there are two of my photos. The big black and white one and the color below it with the two people looking at it. It was really cool to see my photos on the wall and see people look at it and have nice things to say. It's something I'd like to pursue more. And I will.

Andi's photos were hanging just to the left of mine, here's a guy looking at it at the very end of the night. The shot on top is a 20" x 24" print on canvas. It's a gorgeous piece and it made me think of which of my shots would work printed on canvas.

Here's the big piece I hung up. It's an 18" x 24" black and white print of a color photo. I don't think I've shown the black and white version online before, just a color version. This photo currently hangs in our bedroom. It's a 15-second long exposure shot of the Waterworks and Boathouse Row from the gazebo behind the art museum. The smaller shot, 11" x 17" is this one and it currently hangs over Lady's desk.

And here's a shot of the happy artiste next to his photos taken by Andi. It was a fun night. I even got to see some former co-workers there, one of which works at the MLAC.

P.S. - I didn't mean to not inform people, but this was quite last minute. Like a few hours before show time last minute. I grabbed two prints off of our walls and jumped into the car.
