Half Mast
I was walking back from the Fairmount farmers' market and saw the flag at half mast over by the 21st & Hamilton Sts police station. A 25-year veteran of the force, Officer Charles Cassidy died this morning.
The Mayor is holding an interdenominational prayer service in the Mayor's Reception Room at 10a tomorrow. There will be a "unity and peace" rally against violence at Love Park at Noon.

Yeah, I noticed that all the flags (except for 1) at 30th street station and the post office were also at half mast. At the time (walking to work) I had not heard the news…so I kept on wondering what was going on…

I took some whole foods baked goods to the local ministation just in an attempt to make an attempt in morale. No matter what I think of SJ, I do believe that in general the cops do their best in godawful circumstances and get a lot of "damned if they do, damned if they don't"
