Smokin' Joe Frazier

This article about Smokin' Joe Frazier made me sad. Half of what was one of the greatest boxing duos of all time portrayed as a man who missed out on millions. Sure he's to blame for leading a life of complete excess [not exactly MC Hammer excess], but it seems like he was taken advantage of as well. But while he may not have monetary riches, for a former heavyweight boxer, he's in incredible health.

I've passed by Joe Frazier's Gym before, but I had no idea Frazier lived above the gym in an apartment by himself. He seems sort of like a modern day Mickey.

    And when it came time to put up a statue of a Philly boxer, it was the fictional one.

    I can't believe that he lives on top of the building. Its also a shame that they won't put up a statue of him in this city. Rep. Williams said at a rally that its in the works , but I'll believe it when I see it. I hope some one does a documentary on his life. He has brought boxing and the American dream to Philly.
