Formerly Strawbridge & Clothier

I passed by the old Strawbridge's buliding last week and snapped this photo of the old lettering which used to be drilled into the stone (granite?) outside the gargantuan building on 8/Market Sts. The stained stone has the same markings along side several entrance/exits along the Market St side of the building.
While the old Strawbridge's is no longer, it ain't going anywhere.

You know, it's funny, I walked by there last Friday, and paused for a minute to look at the ghosts of those letters. I wished I had had my camera with me and made a mental note to try to grab a picture sometime. Thanks for taking care of it for me!
Word is that Boscov's is in talks to go into that space.

As long as they keep the christmas light show I'm fine with whoever's there.

I heard that about Boscov's as well. Hope that comes to pass.
I'm sorry, but the selection at Macy's in the old Wanamaker's bldg lacks depth, at least for men's clothes.

Everytime I think of Strawbridge & Clothier,I become sad, angry, and annoyed. Our old loyal department store is gone, and I still don't know why.
