Not until right now did I realize that the quesadilla was supposed to have black beans. Not only did they leave out the goat cheese (the only reason a quesadilla should be $8.50) but they also left out the black beans!

Maybe they thought it was the protein-free version? Reverse atkins?

Agreed on the tipping. When I tip normally, my minimum is 20%. When the tip is added on it gets paid to the penny (on my credit card). The servers are definitely missing out.

The website does have blurb (pretty obscure, though) about the "tip/all parties" but it cites 15%. The rest is not on the website, which is criminal to me gven how much is on it. Take a review or 2 off the friggin site and put this stuff.

Tin Angel has both an admit and a 1 item min, but they are VERY clear about it up front. The admit is through ticketing, and every time I've dealt with them, they make sure as you are getting the ticket that you know there is a min. Also "one item" includes beverages. That strikes me as a lot better business - making sure your customers are informed.

I HATE HATE HATE that they were asswipes about the CHEESE quesidilla. You might have gotten somewhere if you managered-up, but it may have been on your "next visit". The server may have been savvy to know you weren't coming back so figured F-U. Also, as the tip is now calc'd off the bill - no incentive to comp.

I also HATE HATE HATE the mandatory tip on ALL tables rule and here's why - I feel like it hurts the servers more than anyone. People who might normally tip higher see it as an out - it's a lot more convenient to pay exactly what is on the check than to compute a tip. Also, depending on the register software - proper tipping on "coupons/specials" (like BOGOs) is to tip on the service received (ie - pre-coupon) not on the service billed. Shorting the server.

This review guaranteed I'm never setting foot on Ortliebs - All of this is just insane asswipery.
