My Motorola Q

There it is, my new superphone. It takes photos, it takes video, it emails, it txt messages, it multimedia messages, it connects to the internet, it plays music, it looks cool and it even makes and receives phone calls! The sound quality has been great in the two weeks I've had it. The high speed Verizon ev-do network has been great too. I've sent lots of photos in emails and checked my Gmail all the time on it without a problem.

It doesn't get in the way either. I normally use the belt clip (yes looking as if my belt threw up some electronics). It's light. It feels good in my hand. The QWERTY thumbpad is responsive. There is a lag at some points. I've mistyped some things here and there, but nothing major, I've adapted to it already by waiting an extra little bit before typing when opening a new application or switching fields. There are a couple little bugs though like when saving a previously dialed number, the thumbpad locks and you can't switch from lowercase alphabetical characters. You can't do capital letters and you can't switch to numbers/symbols. You have to save the new entry and then go back and re-edit the entry afterwards. Not too bad of a bug though, I can live with it.

I can upload all kinds of sound files to it to use as custom ringtones. I'll chop up some .mp3s I have to make them into ringtones down the line, but for now, it's Jimi's "Voodoo Chile" as my default ring for all calls.

I gotta find some mobile device optimized sites to check out and I gotta update my AvantGo account and sync my Q up so I can read up on my commute to work. Still gotta get me a mini-SD card and headphones to listen to music. But I've loved it so far. If you're in the market for a new phone, want a smartphone and want an unlimited data plan, I highly recommend this combo of the Q and Verizon Wireless.
