Twenty-seven Hours and Counting
Back in Center City for a second before I head out to hit the commuter trains out in the burbs. Their cars will be waiting for them with information on Chuck Pennacchio.
I woke up sometime around 9a on Sunday and I haven't had any shut-eye since. I should be back at my poll around 5p to get the after work rush of voters. I stopped by earlier today to put up some signs and catch some midday traffic, there wasn't much traffic. But I did overhear that there are 900 voters [Dems?] in the division. I'll be there with about 125 quarter-sheets. I put up 100 doorknob hangers yesterday too.
The polls close at 8p and the counting should be done by 8.30p. I'll know my division's results then and I may walk down the block and post the results. Then it's off for drinks. I don't think I'll last more than three drinks after over thirty-six hours by then and little more than light snacking along the way.
And if you didn't vote in the morning, GO VOTE AFTER WORK!
Vote Pennacchio, vote Valerie McDonald Roberts and me if you live in Ward 5, Division 8.

For what it's worth, I surprised even myself by giving a vote to Pennachio…instead of Casey, who I long-planned on supporting. Some of the information on this blog convinced the rebel in me to vote for Pennachio…even at the long odds of Pennachio actually winning…because I admire that he puts himself out there and takes a stand on issues that others (including Casey) play safe with. Too many politicians (and news media, for that matter) play it safe by trying to appease everyone. Ultimately, Pennachio may have been the best for the job, and I even gave a vote to Roberts for Lieutenant Gov. because she really was the best one running for the job. My vote also went against the Video Surveillance referendum. At the end of the day, despite the odds of my votes turning those three things into winners, I feel great and slept well last night knowing that I supported what I really believed in at the time when it meant the most. Hopefully other people around here did the same and they took a chance on something they believed in.
