CT v PA Massive Netroots Support

I do understand why the netroots has gotten behind Ned Lamont in CT. Joe "Alf's Dad" LIEberman is about as Republican lite as you can get without being Republican2 and he has got to be gotten rid of.

What I do not get and do not think I will ever understand why the majority of the A-listers out there haven't gotten behind the Pennacchio campaign in it's run to unseat Sen. Man on Dog (R-Up Shit's Creek). That Repugnant fuck wants to send this country back to the stone age. Women barefoot and in the kitchen, the word choice stuck from the lexicon and god emblazoned everywhere as ubiquitous as the Nike swoosh, McDonald's golden arches, Marlboro's red hardpacks and Coca-Cola's script.

Apologists have sprung up from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. From NY to CA. All saying to just shut up because Bob Casey has been shoved down our throats and that's he's just not that bad a guy and after all, he's not Rick, right!!?? And Chuck can't win because he's got some crazy visions of preserving womens right to choose, universal healthcare, getting the fuck out of Iraq, a living wage. And of course, his poll numbers are the icing on the cake, right?

I wonder if they'll all just pack it up after LIEberman beats Lamont in the latest Q-Poll 65 to 19. I don't think they will and I don't think they should. I think they should dig in and fight even fucking harder. That's what I would do. But I'm involved on the ground and online here in PA for this senate fight. A fight that's THE SAME IF NOT MORE PRESSING than theirs.

I'm not saying that Lamont's race doesn't warrant attention, time and dollars. What I am saying is that so does Pennacchio's.

I think Lamont can still win this thing. He's got until mid-August to fully move the people on the ground and he got a big help as Tim Tagaris has come on the scene in CT today. I have no idea how much of the electorate votes there in off-year elections. Especially one with an entrenched guy like LIEberman at the helm. But if it's anything like PA, they can do it and I'm pulling for them.

I think Pennacchio can win here in PA for many reasons. So few Pennsylvanians vote in off-year elections here [I've been told between 8% - 12%] that the people the volunteers have been reaching across the state from Philly to Lancaster to State College to Pittsburgh is really making a difference. People don't know that there's an election going on here let alone who is running for what.

I'd say more than 75% of the people I've been in contact with through various canvassing events since April I've been a part of knew that there was an election. I'd say under 5% of the people I've been in contact with have some kind of informed opinion on the race and at least some knowledge of whose running and their stances on the issues.

We're educating the electorate one person at a time. It's a painstaking process, but the ends of getting Chuck Pennacchio to be Senator Chuck Pennacchio (D-PA) is that light at the end of the tunnel I keep looking up at and smiling.

I think Senator Ned Lamont (D-CT) and Senator Chuck Pennacchio (D-PA) sounds grand.

If anyone up in CT involved in the race or is of voting age is reading this, good luck to you, you've got a hell of a fight ahead through what is surely to be a hot and sticky New England summer. And say hi to Tim for me, I haven't seen him in ages.

Loved your post; I'm as effin' bewildered as you are by this round-the-clock liberal blog support for Lamont (and Rodriguez and Hackett etc) — but NOT for Chuck. Really don't get it, and I probably never will, either. I'm working as hard as I can to get Chuck a win in the primary so we don't have to tell these half-wits "I told you so" a year from now.
