How the Levee Broke
The LA Times has some great graphics showing the path of Katrina, road closures and how the levee broke on 17th St.
The third graphic shows how the Army Corps of Engineers will try to fix the breach today, via a steel wall made up of interlocking steel sheeting via a barge with a pile driver from within the lake. The graphic states
The work, if successful, could take days.
And once that happens, maybe the pumps will be in working condition. Maybe generators will be able to be turned on. Maybe the city will be pumped dry in a few weeks.
